LIDOCAINE® (Xylocaine), 10 ampoules/pack, 2 ml
LIDOCAINE® (Xylocaine, Lignocaine) is an anesthetic agent used for production of local anesthesia. It is also indicated for treatment of arrhythmia occurring during cardiac manipulation or acute myocardial infarction. It works by reducing neuronal membrane's permeability to sodium ions, thereby blocking the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses. The same mechanism of drug's action applies in the heart. Lidocaine blocks sodium (Na+) channels in the conduction system thus making the heart less likely to initiate early action potentials that may cause an arrhythmia.
- Treat Ventricular Arrhythmia (Extrasystoles, Paroxysmal Tachycardia).
- Cure Arrhythmia in Acute Myocardial Infarction and Other Cardiac Diseases.
- During Surgery of the Oral Cavity.
- In Otolaryngology: Before Electrocoagulation, Tonsillectomy.
- During Endoscopic Examinations.
- In Obstetrics and Gynecology: Episiotomy, Cervical Surgery, Surgical Suturing.

Lidocaine is an anesthetic and antiarrhythmic medication that alters signal transmission in neurons by blocking the fast voltage-gated Na+ channels in the neuronal cell membrane responsible for initiation and conduction of impulses. Blocked membrane will not depolarize and will not be able to transmit an action potential. Anesthetic effect is provided not by preventing pain signals from propagating to the brain, but by stopping them before they begin. Antiarrhythmic effect of Lidocain is also the result of blocking sodium channels in the conduction system that makes the heart less likely to conduct early action potentials leading to arrhythmia.
