It is also indicated for treatment of arrhythmia occurring during cardiac manipulation or acute myocardial infarction. It works by reducing neuronal membrane's permeability to sodium ions, thereby blocking the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses. The same mechanism of drug's action applies in the heart. Lidocaine blocks sodium (Na+) channels in the conduction system thus making the heart less likely to initiate early action potentials that may cause an arrhythmia.

DESCRIPTION
Lidocaine is an anesthetic and antiarrhythmic medication that alters signal transmission in neurons by blocking the fast voltage-gated Na+ channels in the neuronal cell membrane responsible for initiation and conduction of impulses. Blocked membrane will not depolarize and will not be able to transmit an action potential. Anesthetic effect is provided not by preventing pain signals from propagating to the brain, but by stopping them before they begin. Antiarrhythmic effect of Lidocain is also the result of blocking sodium channels in the conduction system that makes the heart less likely to conduct early action potentials leading to arrhythmia. INSTRUCTIONS & DOSAGE
Active substance: lidocaine hydrochloride 20mg
Excipients: sodium chloride 6mg, caustic soda 1M solution up to рH 5,0-7,0, water for injections

Lidocaine may be administered IV, IM, S/I
Local anesthesia: usual dose is 5-10ml 2% Lidocaine solution

Anesthesia of brachial and sacral plexus: 5-10ml 2% Lidocaine solution

Cardiology: IV single-dose is 1-2mg/kg, maximum dose is 100mg. The dose may be repeated in every 3-4 hours up to maximum dose 300ml.

Myocardial infarction (before patient's transportation to a hospital): IM single-dose is 4mg/kg (200-300mg)

Patients with liver and/or heart failure: it is recommended to reduce the dose for 40%

STORAGE
Store in dry place at room temperature. Do not exceed storage temperature higher than 25 degrees Celcius. Keep away from direct sunlight. Keep locked and away from children.
