Description
Sofradex (Dexamethasone + Framycetin) is used for the treatment of eye and ear infections. It belongs to the class of antibiotics that kills germs. The preparation includes corticosteroid, a hormone that is produced naturally by the adrenal glands and is effectively used to achieve the anti-inflammatory effect. The product is prescribed to patients diagnosed with blepharitis, conjunctivitis, keratitis (without damage to the epithelium), iridocyclitis, scleritis, episcleritis, infected eyelid eczema, etc. The drug can be used after eye surgery to avoid eye inflammation and prevent bacterial infection. Short-term treatment is needed in this case.

DESCRIPTION
Sofradex presents a perfect combination of the antibiotic and corticosteroid that can deliver effective therapy when applied jointly.
It is recommended to refuse from therapy if your body responds negatively to it. It can be reflected in allergic reactions such as irritation, burning sensation, pain, itching, or rash.
Patients who temporarily lose clarity of vision after instilling the drug into the eye are not recommended to drive a car or work with complex equipment, machine tools, or any other complex equipment that requires clear vision immediately after use of the drug. The vial must be closed after each use.
The absorption of Sofradex can be low when applied topically. When it gets to the blood, it is excreted by the kidneys without changes.
PACKAGING & DOSAGE
Comes in ear/eye drops that are clear and colorless.
Active ingredients: dexamethasone sodium metasulphobenzoate, gramicidin, and framycetin sulfate. The latter one can be absorbed via open wounds and inflamed skin. Therefore, the patient should be very careful with it.
Inactive ingredients: phenethyl alcohol (preservative), polysorbate 80, industrial methylated spirit, citric acid monohydrate, sodium citrate dehydrate, lithium chloride, sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid for pH adjustment and purified water.
The therapy continues for a week. It’s recommended to take 2-3 drops in the ear or eye 3-4 times a day depending upon your illness and goals of therapy. The patient should not touch the dropper to avoid contamination.
STORAGE
Store in dry place at room temperature. Do not exceed storage temperature higher than 25 degrees Celsius. Keep it away from heat and moisture. Keep locked and away from children. Don’t keep the bottle more than 28 days after you open the bottle.
