Description

RIFAXIMIN (Alpha Normix) is used to treat traveler's diarrhea that is caused by a bacteria called Escherichia coli. It is also used to prevent hepatic encephalopathy, which is a condition that occurs when your liver does not work normally. This medicine is also used to treat irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea.

DESCRIPTION
Rifaximin is a semisynthetic, rifamycin-based non-systemic antibiotic, meaning that the drug will not pass the gastrointestinal wall into the circulation as is common for other types of orally administered antibiotics. It has multiple indications and is used in treatment of traveller's diarrhea caused by E. coli; reduction in risk of overt hepatic encephalopathy recurrence; as well as diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D) in adult women and men.

PACKAGE & DOSAGE
The medicine comes in the form of tablets.
Active substance: rifaximin with polymorphic structure alpha - 200 mg.
Excipients: sodium carboxymethyl starch 15 mg, glyceryl palmitostearate 18 mg, colloidal silicon dioxide 1 mg, talc 1 mg, microcrystalline cellulose 115 mg. Film coating: hypromellose 5.15 mg, titanium dioxide (E171) 1.5 mg, disodium edetate 0.02 mg, propylene glycol 0.5 mg, red iron oxide (E172) 0.15 mg.

Treatment of diarrhea:
Adults and children over 12 years of age: 1 200 mg tablet or 10 ml suspension (equivalent to 200 mg rifaximin) every 6 hours. Treatment for traveler's diarrhea should not exceed 3 days.

Prevention of postoperative complications during colorectal surgery: Adults and children over 12 years of age: 2 tablets of 200 mg or 20 ml of suspension (equivalent to 400 mg of rifaximin) every 12 hours. Prevention is carried out 3 days before surgery.

Bacterial overgrowth syndrome: Adults and children over 12 years of age: 2 tablets of 200 mg every 8-12 hours.

STORAGE
The medicine must be stored at temperatures 2-25°C. Keep away from children and pet animals.
