DESCRIPTION
Plermin gel contains the active ingredient becaplermin, a recombinant human platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF). It is used to promote the healing of neuropathic ulcers of the lower extremities in diabetic patients who have adequate blood flow. It is intended as an adjunct to good wound care practices such as cleaning, debridement, appropriate dressing, and infection control.
Becaplermin is a growth factor that stimulates the proliferation and migration of cells critical for wound healing, including fibroblasts and smooth muscle cells. By enhancing cellular recruitment and promoting tissue regeneration, it helps accelerate closure of chronic wounds like diabetic foot ulcers. Plermin Gel supports the body's natural healing process in diabetic patients, where wound healing is often impaired due to reduced blood flow and nerve damage.

PACKAGING & DOSAGE
Active ingredient: Becaplermin 0.01% (100 mcg/g).
Excipients: Carbomers, methylparaben, propylparaben, purified water, and buffering agents to form a gel suitable for topical application.
The gel is applied once daily, directly to the ulcer surface in a thin film covering the entire wound. The amount applied depends on ulcer size; typically 1 g per 10 cm² of wound area. The treated area is usually covered with a saline-moistened sterile dressing.
Treatment duration is guided by clinical response, with regular monitoring every 1-2 weeks.
SIDE EFFECTS AND PRECAUTIONS
Common: Application site reactions such as burning, irritation, itching, redness. Plermin Gel should not be used on ulcers covered with infection until infection is controlled. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult doctors before use.
STORAGE
Store in dry place at room temperature. Do not exceed storage temperature higher than 25 degrees Celcius. Keep away from direct sunlight. Keep locked and away from children.
