DESCRIPTION
Opatanol is an antihistamine drug that functions by blocking the receptors not to allow the substance to cause the reaction. Apart from the suppressive function, it exerts a wide range of pharmacological actions. Histamine stop working when receptors are blocked. As a result, the symptoms disappear.  

The medication belongs to the class of carbonic anhydrase inhibitors that diminish the production of humor thus decreasing fluid flow. With lower humor production, the intraocular pressure becomes lower as well therefore the drug is a good alternative for patients with glaucoma.

PACKAGING & DOSAGE
Opatanol comes in the form of drops.
Active substance: olopatadine.
Excipients: Benzalkonium chloride, sodium chloride, disodium phosphate dodecahydrate, hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide solution regardless of the pH level.

Use one drop twice a day in each eye. The break between the uses should be around 8 hours. In case the drug is used as a part of therapy in combination with the other medication then there should be a gap between the uses of different products. Make it at least 5 minutes until you use the next medicine. The duration of the treatment course depends upon the condition and can last up to 4 months. It is not allowed to use Opatanol in patients younger than 3 years of age.

The main component of the drug can be absorbed by the contact lenses therefore the person shouldn’t wear them before use. It is recommended to wait for 20 minutes after the use of the drops.
