DESCRIPTION
Olanzapine is an atypical antipsychotic. It is dopamine antagonist and belongs to the class of thienobenzodiazepines. The precise mechanism of action of Olanzapine is unknown. It is proposed that its efficacy in treating schizophrenia is provided by antagonism of dopamine in the mesolimbic pathway and serotonin type 2 in the frontal cortex, which reduces positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia. PACKAGING & DOSAGE
Olanzapine comes in the form of tablets. Each tablet contains the active substance - Olanzapine - 10mg, excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, crospovidone, magnesium stearate.

For oral administration with or without meals.

Schizophrenia in adults: initial dose is 10mg/day.
Acute mania associated with bipolar disorder: 15 mg/day.
Depression associated with bipolar disorders: 5mg/day in combination with 20mg fluoxetine.
