DESCRIPTION
Monural (fosfomycin) is an effective, single-dose antibiotic for UTIs, offering rapid relief with minimal side effects. It is particularly useful for women with uncomplicated UTIs due to its convenient dosing and broad-spectrum antibacterial activity.
Monural contains fosfomycin, an antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. It has broad-spectrum activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including E. coli, the most common cause of UTIs.
A single dose (3g) remains active in the urinary tract for up to 48 hours, making it convenient compared to other antibiotics requiring multiple doses. It is well absorbed, rapidly excreted in urine, and provides high urinary concentrations that effectively eliminate bacteria.
