DESCRIPTION
Cetrin contains cetirizine hydrochloride, a second-generation antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms. It works by blocking H1 histamine receptors, preventing allergic reactions such as sneezing, runny nose, and itching. Cetirizine is known for its long-lasting effects and minimal sedative properties compared to first-generation antihistamines.

Unlike first-generation antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine), cetirizine has minimal sedative effects and provides long-lasting relief for up to 24 hours.

When allergens (pollen, dust, pet dander) enter the body, they trigger the release of histamine, a chemical responsible for allergy symptoms like sneezing, itching, and swelling. Cetirizine selectively blocks H1 histamine receptors, preventing histamine from binding and triggering allergic reactions. This action reduces inflammation and relieves symptoms without causing significant drowsiness.

Benefits:

  • Fast-acting relief from allergy symptoms.
  • 24-hour effectiveness with a single dose.
  • Non-sedating or mildly sedating (less drowsy than older antihistamines).
  • Reduces inflammation caused by allergies.
  • Safe for long-term use in chronic conditions like urticaria.
