Virashiv is an antiviral treatment belonging to the non-nucleoside and nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors containing the active ingredients Efavirenz, Emtricitabine, Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate. It is used in the treatment of HIV-1 infection. It is a Human immunodeficiency virus that mainly occurs when a person's immune system is attacked and weakened by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). This infection progressively weakens the immune system, making individuals more susceptible to opportunistic infections.

 

Virashiv tablets increase the number of CD4 T cells and stimulate the immune system to fight against infections. Thereby, it reduces the viral load of HIV in the blood and decreases the severity of HIV infection.

 

Virashiv tablet does not cure HIV. It is an antiviral therapy that helps control the replication of the virus, reduce the viral load, and slow the progression of HIV infection. It is important to continue taking this tablet as prescribed to maintain its effectiveness.

Active ingredients: Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300mg, emtricitabine 200 mg, and efavirenz 600 mg.

Recommended dosage for adults: Adults: One tablet taken orally once daily, preferably at bedtime. Taking the tablet with food may reduce side effects. Do not crush or chew the tablet.

 

Common side effects of Virashiv tablet include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, flatulence, trouble sleeping, headache, rash, sinusitis. These are usually not serious, however, inform your doctor if they bother you or do not go away. Virashiv tablet can also make you feel dizzy or drowsy, so it is advised to avoid driving. In addition to that, avoid alcohol consumption as it may increase the intensity of the side effects. While on the treatment, generally, some people may experience bone pain. To cope up with this you can take calcium and vitamin D supplements as per your doctor’s advice. Birth control pills are ineffective with this medicine, therefore other reliable birth controls should be used.

Before starting with the treatment, you should consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have any kidney, liver, or bone disease. Your doctor may suggest regular blood tests to check your blood counts, liver function, and kidney function.
