DESCRIPTION
Velaxin has an active substance venlafaxine with the chemical structure that should not be attributed to any known class of antidepressants (tricyclic, tetracyclic, or other). It has two active enantiomeric racemic forms. Antidepressant effect is achieved by increasing neurotransmitter activity in the central nervous system. Venlafaxine and its main metabolite O-desmethyl-venlafaxine (EFA) are potent inhibitors of the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine and weakly inhibit reuptake of dopamine neurons. Venlafaxine and EFA equally act upon the reuptake of neurotransmitters. Venlafaxine and EFA reduce beta-adrenergic responses. Venlafaxine has no affinity to the m- and n-cholinergic receptors, the alpha 1-adrenoreceptor and histamine H 1-receptors of the brain. It does not inhibit MAO activity. INSTRUCTIONS & DOSAGE
Active substance: venlafaxine (hydrochloride) 150mg
Excipients: lactose monohydrate (84,93mg), microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate (type a), silica colloidal anhydrous, magnesium stearate.

The recommended initial dose is 75mg 2-3 times per day. If there are no noticeble improvements the dose may be increased to 150mg 2 times per day. If in the opinion of the physician, a higher dose is required (major depressive disorder or other conditions requiring inpatient treatment) 75mg can be assigned immediately 2 times per day. After that the dose may be increased in 75mg increments every 2-3 days until therapeutic effect is achieved. The maximum daily dose of Velaxin is 350mg. After achieving the desired therapeutic effect, the daily dose can be gradually reduced to the minimum effective level.

Store in dry place at room temperature. Do not exceed storage temperature higher than 30 degrees Celcius. Keep away from direct sunlight. Keep locked and away from children.
