DESCRIPTION
Sumitop (Sumatriptan) is a medicine that helps people when they get really bad headaches called migraines. If someone feels a migraine headache coming, they can take this medicine to try to stop the headache from getting worse.
Migraines can happen because some little tubes in the brain, called blood vessels, get too wide. Sumatriptan makes these tubes narrower, which helps to stop the headache.
Sumatriptan is a "triptan," a selective serotonin (5-HT1B/1D) receptor agonist that reverses the expansion of blood vessels in the brain and decreases inflammation, targeting the root cause of migraine pain. It is recommended as monotherapy for active migraine attacks
