DESCRIPTION
Sodium thiosulfate is an inorganic salt known for its ability to neutralize certain toxic substances. It is odorless, colorless, and highly soluble in water. In medicine, it works as a detoxifying agent by converting harmful compounds into less toxic or more easily excretable forms. It is often administered intravenously, orally, or topically, depending on the condition being treated.

In the treatment of cyanide poisoning, sodium thiosulfate acts as a sulfur donor, enabling the conversion of cyanide to thiocyanate, which is then excreted in urine. In calciphylaxis, it helps dissolve calcium deposits in blood vessels, improving circulation.
