DESCRIPTION
Pimapexole (Mirapex) contains the active substance pramipexole, which belongs to the dopamine agonist group, a group of medicines that stimulate dopamine receptors in the brain. Stimulation of the dopamine receptors triggers brain impulses that help control body movements. It is used to treat the symptoms of Parkinson's disease.
Pramipexole, sold under the brand Mirapex is a non-ergot dopamine agonist, selectively stimulating dopamine D2 and D3 receptors to enhance dopamine activity in the brain. This helps improve motor control by compensating for dopamine deficiency in Parkinson’s disease.
