DESCRIPTION
Pentoxifylline (PTX) is a synthetic dimethylxanthine derivative that modulates the rheological properties of blood and also has both anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Although originally developed to treat intermittent claudication, a form of exertion-induced leg pain common in patients with peripheral arterial disease, PTX has been investigated for its possible use in diverse conditions, including osteoradionecrosis, diabetic kidney disease, and generally any condition associated with fibrosis. More recently, PTX has been suggested as a possible treatment for COVID-19-induced pulmonary complications due to its ability to regulate the production of inflammatory cytokines. Pentoxifylline has been marketed in Europe since 1972.

PACKAGE & DOSAGE
The medicine comes in the form of tablets.
Active ingredient: Pentoxifylline - 100 mg.
Excipients: lactose monohydrate (milk sugar) - 32 mg, potato starch - 22.42 mg, water-soluble methylcellulose - 0.48 mg. povidone (low molecular weight polyvinylpyrrolidone), plasdon K-17 - 3.50 mg, stearic acid - 1.60 mg; shell composition: triethyl citrate -1.50 mg, acrylic from 93A18597 white - 13.50 mg or other film-forming system with the indicated composition: methacrylic acid copolymer, type C -66.0% talc -16.5%. titanium dioxide -15.0%, silicon dioxide -1.0%, sodium bicarbonate -1.0%, sodium lauryl sulfate -0.5%.

Taken orally, without chewing, regularly at the same time of the day, preferably after meals with a small amount of water. Take 200 mg (2 tablets) 3 times a day. After achieving a therapeutic effect (usually after 1-2 weeks), the dose is reduced to 100 mg (1 tablet per day). The maximum daily dose is 1200 mg. Course of treatment 1-3 months.
