The return of the legendary Phenotropil® will again appear on the shelves of Russian pharmacies

Valenta Pharm announces the return of Phenotropil®. By the end of May, more than 100,000 packages will be shipped to distributors, which means that in the near future, you will be able to purchase a proven nootropic. The company expects production to be around half a million packs by the end of 2022.

The company resumed production of the legendary “smart pills”, taking into account current regulatory and technological requirements and shipment to distributors will take place before the end of May. Production volumes will be able to fully cover the needs of the medical community and consumers interested in using high-quality and safe nootropic drugs.

The Valenta Company (Valenta Pharm) has been producing Phenotropil® for many years, and it is important for us that we are the ones who, in today's difficult situation, are returning this legendary drug to the market. Its production is carried out on the basis of our research and production center in Shchelkovo. For the release of the Phenotropil, a domestically produced substance is used, so production is not affected by sanctions.

Phenotropil® is a unique, well-studied domestic drug with a long history. In 1983, the Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences developed a phenylpiracetam molecule for Soviet cosmonauts. After the successful use of the drug in extreme conditions of high space flight loads, specialists introduced it into clinical practice for a wide range of patients. The action of the drug is aimed at improving memory, increasing concentration, increasing efficiency and normalizing the psycho-emotional state. Phenotropil® not only eliminates the symptoms of cognitive impairment, but also affects the causes of their occurrence, which is why it is so loved and has always been popular among patients with various cognitive and astheno-neurotic disorders, elderly people who have suffered a stroke[1], students and actively working people who want to improve cognitive abilities and performance. The efficacy and safety of the drug has been studied in more than 50 clinical trials (including high-quality evidence - double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials) with more than 5,000 participants.

Fedin Anatoly Ivanovich, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Honorary Professor of the RMINU. Pirogova, Head of the University Clinic of Neurology:

“I am proud of Phenotropil®, under my leadership its first study was carried out, which passed all the rules of evidence-based medicine and showed its effectiveness. There are not many domestically produced drugs with original composition, and Phenotropil® is one of them. It is no coincidence that it's called legendary - as it began the journey with astronautics and was very popular in this area of use. It has an adaptogenic effect and in the event of an emergency, it helps to stop anxiety and increase concentration. Its advantage is in pronounced cognitive and anti-asthenic actions. It can be assessed from a point of view of a student who, before an exam, can take one tablet in just an hour to relieve tension and clear his/her head. So are neurologists who prescribe a simple and effective course of one tablet per day to their patients. Phenotropil® is a drug that our domestic pharmaceutical industry can be proud of.”

Phenylpiracetam (N-carbamoylmethyl-4-phenyl-2-pyrrolidone), the active substance of Phenotropil®, is a derivative of the pyrrolidone series and has a nootropic effect. This group includes about 20 derivatives and is a well-studied class of drugs for improving brain function[2],[3]. Phenylpiracetam is used in clinical practice as a nootropic agent (pharmacotherapeutic group ATC N06BX), has neurometabolic, neuroprotective, nootropic, antiasthenic and adaptogenic effects[4],[5],[6].
