DESCRIPTION
Naltrexone is a derivative of noroxymorphone that is the N-cyclopropylmethyl congener of naloxone. It competitively binds to mc, κ, δ and μ receptors in the CNS and may block the effects of endogenous opioids, thus leading to the antagonization of most of the subjective and objective effects of opiates. INSTRUCTIONS & DOSAGE
Active substance: Naltrexone hydrochloride 50mg

Excipients: Lactose monohydrate - 96 mg, Magnesium stearate (magnesium stearic acid, 1-water) - 4 mg.

Capsule shell: Titanium dioxide (Е 171) - 2%, Gelatin - up to 100%.
Capsule cap: Indigotin (E 132) - 0.1333%, Titanium dioxide - 1%; Gelatin - up to 100%.

The drug is orally administered only after the reduction of abstinence syndrome and detoxication.
The treatment is started in 7-10 days of abstinence under supervision in a special clinic or treatment center.
Treatment of alcohol dependence: the usual dose is 50mg/day; 12-week course of treatment prevents relapse for the next 6 months (treatment effectiveness depends on the agreement of the patient).
Treatment of opioid dependence: the treatment is started in 7-10 days of abstinence, proved by laboratory testing, including toxicological screening. Ensure that the signs and symptoms of withdrawal and abstinence have subsided. After taking the initial dose of 25mg a patient has to stay under control for an hour. If there is no abstinence syndrome - the dose is increased up to 50mg/day.
Alternative schemes of treatment:
1. 50mg every weekday and 100mg on Saturdays
2. 100mg in a day
3. 150mg in 2 days
4. 100mg on Monday, 100mg on Wensday and 150mg on Friday
Note that these schemes of treatment increases the risk of hepatotoxity. The therapy is administered individually.
