DESCRIPTION
Memantine is a N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonists. It provides modulating action on the glutamatergic system, rather than cholinergic. Dysfunction of glutamatergic neurotransmission is involved in the aetiology of Alzheimer's disease. It normalizes ion transportation, blocks calcium channels, restores membrane potential, improves neurotransmission, enhances cognition, increases daily activity.

Recommendations for use:
The drug should be taken oraly with meals in the morning. The initial dose for the 1st week is 10mg/day, 2nd week - 20mg/day, 3rd week - 20-30mg/day. If it is required - increase the dose for 10mg every week till the maximum 30mg/day.
