MELOXICAM (Mobic, Metacam, Anjeso) is used to treat pain and inflammation in rheumatic diseases and osteoarthritis. Meloxicam helps to alleviate pain and other symptoms that occur due to chronic arthritis. The symptoms it addresses to include such unpleasant conditions as stiff joints and swelling. The medication helps to reduce their severity.
Meloxicam belongs to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It was patented in 1977. In 2000 the medication was approved for medical use in the USA. Now it is a widely used medication. For instance, it enters the top list of the most often prescribed medications with more than 19 million prescriptions a year (as of 2017).

DESCRIPTION
Meloxicam works by blocking the enzymes cyclooxygenase 1 and 2, which lower levels of the inflammation-causing hormone, a prostaglandin. Usually, the process of this kind develops as a result of different types of arthritis.
The anesthetic effect produced by the substance is not fully clear. Reduction of swelling occurs by lowering the prostaglandin level, which is a substance like a hormone, that often causes inflammation. In particular, the preparation blocks the enzyme COX that converts arachidonic acid into prostaglandin. The process is a part of the synthesis of prostaglandins (PG), its first stage. Being the mediators of inflammation, PG can’t act as usual and don’t cause inflammation. In this way, blocking COX enzymes can be helpful for the therapy when the goal is to curb swelling and inflammation.
PACKAGING & DOSAGE
Active ingredient: Meloxicam.
Excipients: Lactose monohydrate - 88.0 mg, microcrystalline cellulose - 62.4 mg, sodium citrate dihydrate - 7.5 mg, sodium carboxymethyl starch - 7.2 mg, povidone K-30 - 3.6 mg, colloidal silicon dioxide - 2.0 mg, calcium stearate - 1.8 mg.
Meloxicam comes in the form of tablets for oral administration. 7.5-15 mg per tablet, 10-20 tablets per pack.
Take orally during meals, without chewing, with drinking water or other liquid. The frequency of admission is once a day.
Rheumatoid arthritis
15 mg per day. After reaching the therapeutic effect, the dose can be reduced to 7.5 mg per day.
Osteoarthritis
7.5 mg per day. If necessary, the dose can be increased to 15 mg per day.
Ankylosing spondylitis
15 mg per day. After reaching the therapeutic effect, the dose can be reduced to 7.5 mg per day.
The maximum daily dose should not exceed 15 mg. The starting dose in patients at increased risk of side effects is 7.5 mg per day. In patients with severe renal failure who are on hemodialysis, the dose should not exceed 7.5 mg per day.
STORAGE
Store in dry place at room temperature. Do not exceed storage temperature higher than 25 degrees Celcius. Keep away from direct sunlight. Keep locked and away from children.
