DESCRIPTION
Latran is a medication whose active ingredient is ondansetron hydrochloride dihydrate, a selective serotonin 5-HT₃ receptor antagonist. It is primarily used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting associated with:
Postoperative recovery: Managing nausea and vomiting following surgical procedures.
Cancer treatments: Alleviating symptoms induced by chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Alcohol withdrawal syndrome: Providing symptomatic relief, especially in cases of mild to moderate severity.
Vomistrip 4 mg oral disintegrating strips usually start working within 30 minutes to 2 hours after taking a dose. The exact timing may vary depending on individual factors and the underlying condition being treated.
After oral administration, the maximum concentration of ondansetron in blood plasma is reached in approximately 1.5 hours. Absolute bioavailability is approximately 60%. The drug is metabolized in the liver with the participation of enzymes of the microsomal oxidation system. Plasma protein binding is 70-76%. PACKAGING & DOSAGE
One package contains 10 tablets or 5 vials.
Strength: 4mg/tab or 2ml/vial. Active ingredient: ondansetron hydrochloride dihydrate - 5.0 mg (in terms of ondansetron - 4.0 mg).
The recommended dose is 8mg of ondansetron 1-2 hours before the start of cytostatic chemotherapy or radiotherapy, followed by 8mg orally every 12 hours for no more than
5 days. For highly emetogenic chemotherapy, a single dose of oral ondansetron is 24 mg simultaneously with dexamethasone orally at a dose of 12mg 1-2 hours before the start of chemotherapy. After the first 24 hours after chemo- or radiotherapy, you can continue taking Latran® orally for no more than 5 days. It is recommended to take Latran® orally at a dose of 8mg 2 times a day.
