DESCRIPTION
Forcan (Fluconazole) works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, thereby stopping the growth and multiplication of fungi. Forcan (Fluconazole) is an azole antifungal agent that penetrates well into body tissues and fluids. It kills or prevents fungal growth by disrupting fungal cell membrane formation. It is preferred for both superficial and systemic fungal infections with a favorable safety profile.
Forcan (Fluconazole) inhibits the fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme 14α-demethylase, crucial for converting lanosterol to ergosterol. This disrupts fungal membrane integrity and function, leading to fungal cell death. It has high oral bioavailability and good CNS penetration, allowing treatment of fungal meningitis.

Vaginal candidiasis: 1 capsule (150 mg) once daily, sometimes repeated monthly for prevention. Oropharyngeal candidiasis: 1 capsule daily for 1-2 weeks. Esophageal candidiasis: 1 capsule daily for at least 3 months, continuing 2 weeks after symptom resolution. Systemic infections: loading dose 3 capsules, then 1 capsule per day for at least 4 weeks. Meningitis: loading dose, then 1-3 capsules daily for 6-8 weeks or more.
Avoid in patients allergic to fluconazole or related azoles. Use caution in liver or kidney impairment.
Contraindicated in breastfeeding women.
