DESCRIPTION
Entecashiv is an antiviral drug belonging to the category of medicines called nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs), containing the active ingredient Entecavir. It is used for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. It occurs when the immune system is unable to effectively clear the virus from the liver within six months after the initial infection.
It works by inhibiting DNA synthesis and effectively reduces the viral count in the body, helping to suppress HBV replication. As a result, it can lead to improved liver conditions by reducing liver inflammation and preventing further liver damage caused by the virus.
Entecashiv does not treat hepatitis B virus infection, it lowers the body's level of the hepatitis B virus and enhances liver function by reducing liver damage.
