DESCRIPTION

Celecoxib offers targeted anti-inflammatory and analgesic benefits with lower gastrointestinal toxicity than traditional NSAIDs but requires caution due to cardiovascular and other risks.

Celecoxib selectively inhibits the COX-2 enzyme, which is induced during inflammation and responsible for converting arachidonic acid into prostaglandins—chemicals that promote inflammation, pain, and fever. By blocking COX-2, celecoxib decreases prostaglandin production, thereby alleviating inflammatory symptoms while sparing COX-1, an enzyme involved in protecting the stomach lining and maintaining kidney function. This selectivity reduces gastrointestinal side effects commonly associated with nonselective NSAIDs.

PACKAGING & DOSAGE

One pack contains 50 cabs of 200 mg.

Active ingredient: Celecoxib 200 mg.

Excipients: Microcrystalline cellulose, lactose, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide.

It is advised to take Celecoxib with food to reduce gastrointestinal upset.

Osteoarthritis: Typically 200 mg per day (single or divided dose).

Rheumatoid arthritis: 100-200 mg twice daily.

Acute pain: 400 mg on first day, then 200 mg twice daily.

Primary dysmenorrhea: 400 mg on first day, then 200 mg twice daily.

Dosage for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and other indications varies by age and response.
