Description
CEFALEXIN (Keflex, Cephalexin) is an antibiotic that belongs to the cephalosporin class. It is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections by stopping the growth of bacteria. It works by interfering with the bacterial cell wall, causing the bacteria to break apart. Cephalexin works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. This weakens the bacterial cell structure, leading to the destruction of the bacteria. Since it targets bacteria, cephalexin is not effective against viral infections such as the flu or common cold.
