Betablock XL (Metoprolol) is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker (beta-blocker) primarily used to treat cardiovascular conditions by reducing the heart's workload and oxygen demand. It selectively binds to beta-1 receptors located mainly in the heart, blocking the action of stress hormones like adrenaline and noradrenaline, which results in slower heart rate, reduced heart muscle contractility, and lowering of blood pressure.
Betablock XL (Metoprolol) is a cardioselective beta-1 blocker, meaning it targets heart tissues more than other body organs. This effect slows the heart rate, reduces force of contraction, and lowers blood pressure. It inhibits response to adrenaline at beta-1 receptors in the heart, decreasing workload and oxygen demand.
