Trazokem (Trazodone) is an antidepressant from the serotonin antagonist and reuptake inhibitor (SARI) class. It is used to treat major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, and sleep problems such as insomnia.
Trazokem (Trazodone) acts as a serotonin antagonist and reuptake inhibitor (SARI), blocking reuptake of serotonin and antagonizing postsynaptic 5-HT2A/C receptors. This increases serotonin in the synaptic cleft, resulting in antidepressant effects. It also blocks histamine H1 and alpha-adrenergic receptors, contributing to sedative and antihypertensive effects.
