DESCRIPTION
Tofacitinib modulates the immune system by inhibiting JAK enzymes involved in inflammatory pathways, thus reducing joint inflammation, pain, and immune activity. Tofacitinib is a potent Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor used primarily in the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ulcerative colitis.

A Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor is a type of treatment that blocks the activity of one or more enzymes in the Janus kinase family (JAK1, JAK2, JAK3, TYK2), which are critical for signaling in the immune system. These enzymes transmit signals from cytokines—proteins that regulate immune responses—by activating the JAK-STAT (Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription) pathway inside cells.

Benefits:
  • Reduces inflammation, joint pain, and swelling.
  • Improves physical function and quality of life.
  • Oral administration offers convenience over injectable biologics.
