Description
ROSUVASTATIN (Crestor, Rosulip, Zuvamor) is a medication used to prevent cardiovascular disease in those at high risk and treat abnormal lipids. It works by reducing the production of low-density lipoprotein ("bad") cholesterol, triglycerides and increasing the production of high-density lipoprotein ("good") cholesterol. Rosuvastatin was patented in 1991, and approved for medical use in the United States in 2003.

DESCRIPTION
Rosuvastatin starts to work within a week to reduce cholesterol, but it’s best to take it at the same time every day. You should feel the full effect of this medicine within 4 weeks as long as you take it regularly as prescribed. It will not usually upset your stomach so you can take it with or without food.
PACKAGING & DOSAGE
Rosuvastatin comes in the form of tablets for oral administration.
Active substance: rosuvastatin calcium, in terms of rosuvastatin - 5,10,20,40 mg.
Excipients: lactose monohydrate (milk sugar) - 70.329 mg; microcrystalline cellulose - 12.307 mg; croscarmellose sodium - 4.577 mg; povidone-K25 - 2.637 mg; colloidal silicon dioxide - 0.970 mg; magnesium stearate - 0.970 mg.
Shell composition: hypromellose - 1.650 mg; macrogol - 4000 - 0.450 mg; titanium dioxide - 0.900 mg.
Dosage:
Your dose of rosuvastatin will depend on why you need it, your cholesterol levels, and other medicines you may already be taking.
The usual dose for adults is:
To prevent heart attacks and strokes – 20mg, taken once a day, although sometimes a lower dose is prescribed. If you have very high cholesterol and are at high risk of heart attacks or strokes, a specialist may prescribe 40mg a day. This dose is not suitable for everyone
High cholesterol – 5mg to 10mg, taken once a day. Your doctor may increase your dose every 4 weeks up to 20mg a day
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice if you're unsure how much to take.
You'll usually take rosuvastatin for life. The benefits of the medicine will only continue for as long as you take it.
You will not get any withdrawal symptoms. But stopping rosuvastatin may cause your cholesterol to rise. This increases your risk of heart attacks and strokes
STORAGE
Store in dry place at room temperature. Do not exceed storage temperature higher than 25 degrees Celcius. Keep away from direct sunlight. Keep locked and away from children.
