PENTASA® (Asacol, Mesalazine) - is used to treat inflammatory bowel disease, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. It is generally used for mildly to moderately severe disease.

PACKAGING
PENTASA® comes in the form of tablets for oral use: 500 mg per tablet, 50 tablets per pack.
Active ingredient:
Mesalazine - 500 mg.
Excipients:
Microcrystalline cellulose 207 mg, povidone 25 mg, talc 9 mg, ethyl cellulose 6-9 mg, magnesium stearate 1 mg.
DOSAGE
Orally, after food, with water, without chewing.
Ulcerative colitis:
Acute period: 2 tablets 2-4 times a day.
Maintenance therapy: 1 tablet 2-3 times a day.
Crohn's disease:
Acute period: 2 to 4 tablets 4 times a day.
Maintenance therapy: 2-4 tablets 2 times a day or 2-3 tablets 3 times a day.
Children:
The dose is selected individually, usually 20-30 mg of mesalazine per 1 kg of body weight per day in several doses.
PRECAUTIONS
- Should not be used in children under two.
- People with kidney disease.
- People who are allergic to aspirin.
SIDE EFFECTS
Side effects are primarily gastrointestinal but may also include headache; GI effects include nausea, diarrhea and abdominal pain.
STORAGE
Store in dry place at room temperature. Do not exceed storage temperature higher than 25 degrees Celcius. Keep away from direct sunlight. Keep locked and away from children.
