Frasix (furosemide) works by inhibiting sodium and chloride reabsorption in the kidneys' loop of Henle, promoting the excretion of water, sodium, potassium, and chloride to reduce fluid buildup. Common indications include edema due to heart failure, liver cirrhosis, renal failure, nephrotic syndrome, and severe hypercalcemia. It is also used to treat hypertension and to rapidly reduce fluid overload in acute conditions.

Dosage:

20 to 40 mg once or twice daily, adjusted based on clinical response. For acute fluid overload, intravenous doses range from 20 to 40 mg initially, with titration as needed. Higher doses may be required in kidney impairment or chronic conditions. It is often dosed in the morning to reduce nocturia.
