DESCRIPTION
Clopixol is a neuroleptic of the thioxanthene series. The active substance of Clopixol is Zuclopenthixol. It has a high affinity for both the adenylate cyclase-coupled dopamine D1 receptors and for the dopamine D2 receptors. Clopixol provides antipsychotic effect by blocking dopamine receptor activity. It also increases he serum prolactin level in the brain. Clopixol is used to treat schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, improves disturbed thoughts, feelings and behaviour. INSTRUCTIONS & DOSAGE
Active substance: zuclopenthixol 10mg
Excipients: potato starch, lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, copovidone, glycerol 85%, talc, hydrogenated castor oil, magnesium stearate
Dosage should be administered individually according to the patient's condition. Small doses should be taken at the beginning of the treatment and increased to the optimal level as rapidly as possible.
Acute schizophrenia and other acute psychoses; severe, acute states of agitation; mania: starting dose is 10-50mg/day taken orally. In severe and moderate cases, initial starting dose is 20mg/day. If it is necessary, the dose should be increased by 10-20mg every 2-3 days to 75mg/day or more.
Chronic schizophrenia and other chronic psychoses: the maintenance dose is 20-40mg/day taken orally.
Agitation in mentally retarded patients: the maintenance dose is 6-20mg/day taken orally, if necessary increased to 25-40mg/day.
Agitation and confusion in senile patients: the maintenance dose is 2-6mg/day taken orally (preferably given late in the day). If necessary increased to 10-20mg/day.
STORAGE
Store in dry place at room temperature. Do not exceed storage temperature higher than 25 degrees Celcius. Keep away from direct sunlight. Keep locked and away from children.
