More specific, Cabergoline is the active substance of Bergolac. It is a dopamine receptor agonist, the ergoline derivative. Cabergoline works by activating D2 receptors, located on the lactotrophic cells of the pituitary gland. The excitation of dopamine receptors in this area decreases secretory function of the cells that produce prolactin. In addition, cabergoline interacts with the other receptors such as D3, D4, 5-HT1A, 5-HT2A, 5-HT2B, 5-HT2C, α2B. Interaction with α2B receptors provides positive effect on erectile function (stimulates corpora cavernosa dilation).

Inhibition of postpartum lactation: 1 mg (2 tablets) 1 time with meals the next day after parturition.
