ALTEVIR (Interferon alfa-2b) has antiviral, immunomodulatory, antiproliferative and antitumor effects. Interferon alpha-2b, interacting with specific receptors on the cell surface, initiates a complex chain of changes inside the cell, including the induction of the synthesis of a number of specific cytokines and enzymes, disrupts the synthesis of viral RNA and virus proteins in the cell. The result of these changes is nonspecific antiviral and antiproliferative activity associated with the prevention of viral replication in the cell, inhibition of cell proliferation and the immunomodulatory effect of interferon. Interferon alpha-2b stimulates the process of antigen presentation to immunocompetent cells, has the ability to stimulate the phagocytic activity of macrophages, as well as the cytotoxic activity of T cells and natural killer cells involved in antiviral immunity. Prevents cell proliferation, especially tumor cells. It has a depressing effect on the synthesis of some oncogenes, leading to inhibition of tumor growth.

DESCRIPTION
Interferon alpha 2b (human leukocyte clone hif-sn 206 protein moiety reduced). A type I interferon consisting of 165 amino acid residues with arginine in position 23. This protein is produced by recombinant DNA technology and resembles interferon secreted by leukocytes. It is used extensively as an antiviral or antineoplastic agent.

PACKAGE & DOSAGE
SubQ, IM or IV injection, 1 ml per vial, 5 mln. units strength.
Active ingredient: Human recombinant interferon alpha-2b 5 million IU per 1 ml.
Excipients: sodium acetate, sodium chloride, tetraacetic acid ethylenediamine disodium salt, tween-80, dextran 40, water for injection.

Treatment must be started by a doctor. Further, with the permission of the doctor, the patient can inject himself a maintenance dose on his own (SubQ or IM).

STORAGE
It is recommended to store the medicine in a dark place at a temperature not exceeding 8°C. In late autumn, winter and early spring it's cold in Russia so there is minimal risk of disintegration. In warmer months we ship with a cool pack, in hot months we do not ship this product.
