​Experts estimate the growth of the Russian pharmaceutical market in 2023 at 4-8%

According to DSM Group, in 2022 the country’s pharmaceutical market grew by 11.9% compared to 2021 - up to 2.6 trillion Rubles ($28.4 bn).

The Russian pharmaceutical market in 2023 may grow by 4-8% compared to 2022. This was announced at an online conference by Sergei Shulyak, CEO of the marketing agency DSM Group.

“Our forecast lies within the range of 4-8%,” he said.

According to the presentation by Sergei Shulyak, the Russian pharmaceutical market in 2023 could grow by 5.8% compared to 2022 - up to 2.7 trillion Rubles ($29.5 bn), and in 2024 - by 5.5% compared to 2023 - up to 2.9 trillion Rubles ($31.7 bn).

According to DSM Group, in 2022 the Russian pharmaceutical market grew by 11.9% compared to 2021 - to 2.6 trillion Rubles ($28.4 bn). At the same time, the government procurement market grew by 6.9%, to 895.6 billion Rubles ($9.8 bn), and the pharmacy market - by 15%, to 1.7 trillion rubles ($18.6 bn). In hospital procurement, the volume of purchases of antibiotics decreased the most compared to 2021 (by 85.2%), while at the same time, purchases of drugs for the Circle of Good Foundation increased significantly.

Speaking about the commercial segment of the pharmaceutical market, the expert noted that the number of pharmacies continues to grow in Russia. As of the fourth quarter of 2022, there were 69.5 thousand pharmacy outlets in the country. Mainly federal and interregional pharmacy chains are developing in Russia.
