Due to the lack muscle relaxing (myorelaxing) effects the drug can be used in patients with myopathy and myasthenia. Because of atypical chemical structure, in contrast to classical benzodiazepines, Grandaxin at therapeutic doses does not potentiate the effect of alcohol and practically does not cause the development of physical, psychological dependence and withdrawal. Grandaxin is classed as a day tranquilizer.

I find it a good mild anxiolytic when taking one pill twice a day. I did feel a little apathetic when just started taking it, but I see it as a side effect of relaxation after prolonged stress. I does help with alcohol withdrawal, preventing urges to drink.

Designed to be a short acting, mildy energy boosting with mild anti anxiety effects, and it does this well. Even better is the safety profile of extended use. Much safer than most of the benzodiazapene derivatives for extended use.

I started looking at tofisopam because I heard it's a benzodiazepine-analogue that doesn't cause sedation or amnesia. And true to these words, it does not cause any sedation. However, what I didn't realize was how stimulating it was. Sometimes when I take it, it relieves my anxiety, but then I feel some heart palpitations and that triggers anxiety (it is a selective PDE10 inhibitor). I find this drug best used in low doses, 50mg doses perhaps twice a day, in conjunction with a classical gabaergic benzodiazepiene, as it helps counteract the sedation from the gabaergic benzo, and allows a lower dose to be taken. I may get more, but for some reason I don't reach for it often when I'm anxious.
