DESCRIPTION
CIPRALEX contains the active ingredient Escitalopram. It restores the balance of natural substances in the brain. The drug becomes effective thanks to the elevated level of serotonin in the brain. A higher level of serotonin brings to a good mood. Cipralex can’t be used with drugs that have the same scheme of action. 14 days should pass after the therapy with SSRI before this medicine is appointed. Some people may feel anxiety at the beginning of treatment but then this side effect disappears.

Breastfeeding and pregnant women shouldn’t use the medication. It is not allowed to take alcohol along with treatment. The biggest effect of the therapy is achieved in 3 months after the patient started treatment. The therapy should continue for several months. Common side effects include sickness, headache, ejaculation problems, insomnia.

PACKAGE & DOSAGE
It is better to start treatment with 10 mg doses that should be taken on a daily basis. Define the exact time for your treatment to make your therapy more effective, for instance, before going to bed. It doesn’t matter if you take the medication with a meal or not. Increase the dose gradually until it reaches 20 mg, which is the highest allowed dose per day. People with poor health and senior patients can start treatment with 5 mg doses and gradually increase the dose to 10 mg. It is not recommended to stop treatment abruptly. A gradual withdrawal of medication is required.

It’s important not to crush or chew the medication, but swallow it whole with water. The medication begins working in a couple of weeks, while the general duration of therapy is 2-4 weeks. Don’t hurry to stop the therapy even if the good effect is achieved fast until the doctor says otherwise.

STORAGE
It is necessary to keep the medication in the original packing for storage. Place it in a dark and dry place. The room temperature must be moderate – about 25°C.
